Catching our breath after a wonderful and successful two weeks of camp!
By now we hope everyone is safe at home, catching up on their rest and preparing for the new school year. Our office will be closed for a couple of weeks to allow us to recoup after a tremendous two weeks of camp. Of course, if there is anything urgent, please feel free to send me an email as I will be checking them periodically. Campers go home today!
Get the laundry machines ready...your campers are coming home today! Last night's talent show was a tremendous success and I am thrilled to announce Morgan as this year's grand winner! Congratulations to Aidan and Lauren rounding out the top three! We are so proud of all our participants. Tournament Day at Mad-Camp!
Yesterday's overcast provided the athletes a bit of reprieve from the sun and heat. The battle for the Brownstein Cup was fierce as the beach coaches faced the court coaches in an exciting THREE matches! In the end, COURT walked away with the Cup! Congratulations to all players and thanks for giving us a spectacular show! Last night the campers had a traditional campfire night where they shared stories, songs and yummy s'mores. Our 40 cabins of campers and their coaches were assigned to 13 campfire sites and the soft sounds of laughter, guitars and voices ebbed and flowed under a blanket of stars. The cabins have chosen their countries and have made their flags. The tournament has begun! The finals will continue tomorrow morning. Volleyball Update!
From the sea of red and white for Mad-camp Canada day, lunch time cabin cheers and day two of the Madawaska's Got Talent auditions, the spirit of camp is at an all-time high! I've heard through the grapevine that the Talent night is going to be spectacular! Tonight's event is the ever-popular Hootenanny led by camp owner Sol Birenbaum, Steven Pulver and David Borins. This awesome trio will provide us with a wide spectrum of traditional camp songs and current hits to sing along to. This night is a tribute to Ted Cole who taught us all to pass the music on! Volleyball Camp is well underway!
Special thanks to our Coach Canada bus drivers for delivering our fantastic campers safe and sound on Sunday! Registration day saw 520 campers arrive between noon and 3:00pm and by dinner time they were assigned to their cabins and prepped for an evening of fun! The welcome ceremony was topped off with an exciting fireworks display that lit up the crisp, dark sky. Day two brought the beautiful sunshine and hot temperatures which encouraged the campers to take advantage of the gorgeous water front during free time. If you had listened carefully last night around 8:00 pm, you just may have heard the faint echo of the music that the DJ from Magen Boys played as he entertained everyone with the current top 40 music for the much talked about dance!
